A group of armed bandits met their match on Wednesday night when Katsina State Police Command thwarted a kidnap attempt in Gidan Zuma village, Sabuwa Local Government Area.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the criminals stormed the area on motorcycles, armed with AK-47 rifles, attempting to ambush unsuspecting commuters along the Inono feeder road.

However, their plan was quickly derailed as police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari, engaged them in a fierce gun duel. Outgunned and overpowered, the bandits fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning a Honda motorcycle at the scene.

The police have intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects, sweeping the area to ensure their capture.

Commending his officers for their swift and brave response, the Katsina Commissioner of Police reassured residents of the force’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
