In a major anti-drug operation, Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a notorious Nigerian drug kingpin, Uchechukwu Chima, in an intelligence-led raid in Accra.

The 56-year-old suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, after authorities discovered a staggering 192kg of cocaine and 0.42kg of heroin at his hideout. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $2.1 million.

Confirming the arrest, NACOC’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Francis Amoah, stated that Chima has long been on the agency’s radar and is believed to be linked to previous drug trafficking operations in Ghana.

Amoah emphasized that removing such a large quantity of drugs from circulation is a major victory in the fight against illicit drug trade, potentially saving countless lives.

“This seizure reinforces NACOC’s commitment to ensuring Ghana remains a hostile environment for drug trafficking,” the statement read.

With Chima now in custody, authorities are expected to intensify efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.
