“Prayers and Firepower”: Nigerian Army Chief Urges Troops to Seek Divine Help in War Against Terror

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has called on military personnel to combine hard work with prayer in the battle against terrorism, emphasizing that victory requires both strategy and divine intervention.

Speaking at a special Lenten fast-breaking event with Christian officers and soldiers in Abuja on Wednesday, Gen. Musa highlighted the significance of faith in times of war. He noted that both Christians and Muslims are currently observing fasting periods, calling it a sign that God is with them.

“It is a great privilege for us to always be together, and I think this is something that we should always look forward to,” he said. “We pray for God’s blessings and success over the enemies confronting us from all directions.”

He urged the armed forces to stay united as Nigerians, stressing that while hard work is essential, divine intervention plays a crucial role in securing victory.

The Chief of Defence Operations, Maj.-Gen. Emeka Onumajuru, also commended the CDS for promoting faith and unity among personnel, noting that the Lent season is a time of reflection, gratitude, and generosity. He added that the event strengthens the spirit of brotherhood within the military.
