In a major political development, the House of Representatives has approved President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

During a session on Thursday, 243 lawmakers participated in a voice vote to adopt the president’s directive, reinforcing federal intervention in the ongoing crisis.

As part of their resolution, the House recommended the creation of a national committee to restore peace in the state. Additionally, they proposed that the National Assembly take over legislative activities in Rivers for the next six months.
