Rivers State is witnessing a major political shift as newly appointed Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (retd.), officially takes charge.

Ibas landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport around 11:25 AM on Thursday, where he was welcomed by top government officials and heavy security presence. Without delay, he headed straight to the Government House in Port Harcourt, escorted by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16.

Upon arrival, Ibas was given a brief tour of the premises before heading into a high-level, closed-door meeting with senior security officials, a Federal Government delegation, and key state government representatives.

His arrival marks the beginning of his tenure, following his swearing-in by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday. The developments in Rivers have drawn widespread attention, with political observers watching closely as the state navigates this new leadership structure.
