The people of Rivers State are gripped with fear and uncertainty as the whereabouts of their suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, remain unknown, according to Niger Delta activist Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe.
Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Sara-Igbe expressed deep concern, stating that no one has seen or heard from Fubara since his suspension.
President Bola Tinubu, in a national broadcast on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, suspended Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and the state’s House of Assembly amid a deepening political crisis in Rivers State. Following the announcement, the embattled governor and his security team reportedly vacated the Government House, but his current location remains a mystery.
“We have not seen Fubara, and nobody has communicated with him. We don’t know what they have done to him or where he is. His life is in danger, and we are deeply worried,” Sara-Igbe stated.
The activist called on Nigerians to rise against what he termed the “illegal suspension” of Fubara, warning that if such political actions go unchallenged, they could become a dangerous precedent nationwide.
As concerns grow over Fubara’s fate, the political atmosphere in Rivers State remains tense, with many fearing the crisis could escalate further.
