ONITSHA – Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has sounded the alarm over the continued invasion and killing of innocent residents in Ndiagu Amofia Umuhu, Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State by armed herdsmen.

Ejiofor, who also serves as the lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), accused the Enugu State Government of failing to act decisively despite repeated attacks on the community.

Speaking to journalists in Onitsha, Anambra State, he referenced an investigative report by Sahara Reporters detailing the horrors inflicted on Ndiagu Amofia. He revealed that on February 28, 2025, armed herdsmen stormed the community, unleashing terror, killing residents, burning homes, and displacing thousands.

“This is nothing short of a bloody invasion, and it must not be tolerated,” Ejiofor stated. “Governor Peter Mbah must act decisively. Every available security force must be deployed to reclaim Ndiagu and restore peace. Will the government wait until this entire community is wiped out? The time for half-measures and delayed responses is over—bold, immediate action is required.”

Ejiofor stressed that displaced residents must be assured of their safety and given the means to return home without fear of another attack.

“No citizen should be left at the mercy of ruthless killers while those in power look the other way. The government’s silence in the face of these atrocities is unacceptable. Paying lip service while people suffer and die is a betrayal of leadership.”

The lawyer further reminded the government of its primary duty to protect lives and property, warning that the ongoing bloodshed and displacement of Ndiagu residents should not be ignored.

“The failure to provide adequate security is glaring and indefensible. The bloodshed must end. Enough is enough!” he declared.

Ejiofor’s call for urgent action adds to the growing outcry for the Enugu State Government to intervene and put an end to the persistent violence in Eha-Amufu and other affected communities in the Southeast.
