Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has issued a firm directive to all political appointees, ordering them to declare their assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) or risk legal repercussions.

Speaking during an Iftar gathering with Heads of Government Agencies and Special Advisers at the Government House, Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the lack of compliance.

“The Code of Conduct Bureau in Kano informed me that 60 to 70 percent of our appointees have yet to declare their assets. They appealed to me to direct you to do so, as failure to comply has serious constitutional consequences,” he warned.

He urged appointees to obtain, complete, and submit the required forms without delay to avoid any legal troubles.

Beyond asset declaration, the Governor criticized some Special Advisers for failing to fulfill their advisory roles.

“An Adviser should be sending me dozens of memos, not staying silent for over a year without offering any guidance on governance matters,” he remarked.

Governor Yusuf encouraged them to be more proactive, closely monitoring government affairs related to their roles and submitting reports, whether positive or negative.

Despite his dissatisfaction with some officials, he praised the Heads of Government Agencies for their dedication and cooperation. As a gesture of appreciation, he announced an allocation of 13 Hajj slots for them.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KCHIMA), expressed gratitude for the Governor’s support and pledged commitment to his administration’s vision.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, reminded appointees of their oath to serve with justice and integrity, urging them to remain dedicated to Governor Yusuf’s mission of transforming Kano and improving the lives of its citizens.
