President Tinubu Hails Public Health Legend Arowolo on His 80th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to renowned pharmacist and public health icon, Mr. Ifejola Arowolo, on the occasion of his 80th birthday. In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the president extended his heartfelt congratulations to Arowolo, recognizing his decades of remarkable service in both Nigeria and the United States.

Arowolo, a respected figure in the Nigerian healthcare sector, has left an indelible mark through his work as the pioneer Chairman of the National Drug Abuse Committee in Ondo State and his tenure as the former Director of Pharmaceutical Services in the state. President Tinubu commended Arowolo’s outstanding leadership, highlighting his legacy of integrity, hard work, and accountability. These qualities, the president noted, were not only evident in Arowolo’s career but also in the values he instilled in his children—among them, Mrs. Olu Verheijen, the President’s Special Adviser on Energy.

Tinubu also lauded Arowolo’s pioneering work to integrate indigenous Nigerian medicine with Western medical practices, a vision that has made healthcare more accessible and affordable for ordinary Nigerians. Arowolo’s advocacy for education as a tool for poverty alleviation has further solidified his reputation as a champion for public welfare.

Describing Arowolo as a disciplined and principled leader, Tinubu emphasized the impact of his faith-based academic background, which has shaped his civic duty and governance. The president wished the octogenarian continued health, happiness, and fulfillment as he celebrates this remarkable milestone.
