Boxing legend George Foreman, a two-time heavyweight champion and one of the sport’s most iconic figures, has passed away at the age of 76.
Foreman, famous for his unforgettable 1974 Rumble in the Jungle showdown with Muhammad Ali and his remarkable comeback to reclaim the title at 45, died peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Texas in 1949, Foreman’s journey from a troubled youth to Olympic gold medalist and world champion was nothing short of extraordinary. His sheer power and relentless style saw him dismantle opponents, including the legendary Joe Frazier, before his shocking loss to Ali.
After an initial retirement in 1977, Foreman made an unlikely return to boxing a decade later, proving doubters wrong by reclaiming the heavyweight crown in 1994. Beyond the ring, he became a beloved TV personality, entrepreneur, and pastor, with his George Foreman Grill becoming a household name.
A father of 12, including five sons all named George, Foreman’s legacy extends far beyond boxing. His resilience, reinvention, and charisma made him a global icon.
Rest in power, Big George.
