In the bustling city of Aba, where music once set the stage for school competitions and vibrant trade fairs, two childhood friends turned a dream into reality. Nneji “Nosman” Abuwa and Chimezie Eke, co-founders of Rhymestreet Records, are on a mission to uncover and nurture Nigeria’s hidden musical gems.

“Growing up, music was everywhere—inter-school contests, fundraising events, and trade fairs. It was clear that Aba had an abundance of talent, but no structured platform to harness it,” Nosman recalls. “That realization sparked the idea for Rhymestreet Records.”

Their journey took them across different artistic paths—Nosman, a celebrated singer-songwriter whose track SHAKE won the MTN Music Plus Top 10 Award in 2017, and Chimezie, a model and actor who starred alongside Antonio Banderas in Dolor y Gloria while working with top fashion houses like Givenchy and Chanel.

At Rhymestreet, music is more than just sound—it’s storytelling. “All creative arts are interconnected. A movie needs a soundtrack, and music is incomplete without visuals and dance,” says Chimezie.

But beyond raw talent, Rhymestreet values passion. “Talent alone isn’t enough; an artist needs the drive to push through challenges,” Nosman explains. “That same fire fuels our mission—to discover and amplify Nigeria’s untapped music potential.”

With Rhymestreet Records paving the way, a new generation of Nigerian artists is set to make waves on the global stage.
