Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has made several strategic appointments aimed at strengthening the governance of the state’s tertiary institutions and Pilgrims’ Welfare Board. The governor approved new appointments to the governing councils of three major universities and appointed nine part-time members to the Oyo State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (Christian Wing).
Major Appointments in Oyo State Universities
According to a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde has made notable decisions to enhance the leadership of key educational institutions in Oyo State. One of the standout appointments is that of Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, the former CEO of First Bank Nigeria, who has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan. His appointment takes effect immediately.
In addition, Professor Ayodeji Omole has been reappointed as Chairman of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Governing Council. New members joining the council include Mrs. Titilayomi Ahmadu, Mr. Idowu Adeosun, Mr. Jelili Busari, and Dr. Teslim Adediran, with their tenure starting on April 1, 2025.
Leadership Changes at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic
Governor Makinde also appointed Professor Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi as Chairman of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, following the passing of the former chairman, Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo. This appointment takes immediate effect, ensuring the continuation of the institution’s leadership.
Strengthening the Oyo State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board
In a related development, the governor has appointed nine new part-time members to work with the chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (Christian Wing), Bishop David Ademola Moradeyo. The new appointees include prominent religious leaders such as Pastor Biodun Popoola, Rev. Father Alabi, and Hon. Emmanuel Akanbi, with their appointments taking immediate effect.
