In a heartwarming gesture to celebrate academic excellence, Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded Miss Ifebude Benson a N500,000 cheque for being the best overall candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
The award, presented on Sunday in Akwa by the state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, was a symbol of the Governor’s commitment to fostering academic brilliance among students in Anambra. Ifebude, who was represented by her proud father, Mr. Ben Benson, scored an outstanding A1 in all nine subjects she took in the examination.
A Bright Star in Anambra’s Education System
Ifebude, from Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, has set a new standard for academic achievement. Her exceptional performance in NECO earned her admission to the prestigious University of Abuja, where she is now pursuing a degree in medicine and Surgery.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that the Governor’s gesture is part of a broader initiative to elevate the standard of education in the state, ensuring that Anambra’s children have the tools and opportunities to compete globally. “This award is the Governor’s way of encouraging academic excellence among Anambra pupils and students,” she said, highlighting the state government’s serious investments in education.
A Proud Moment for the Benson Family
Speaking on behalf of his daughter, Mr. Ben Benson expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Soludo for the recognition, stating that the award will inspire Ifebude to continue excelling. He also praised the Governor for standing out as a leader who values and promotes hard work and dedication.
This recognition not only rewards Ifebude’s remarkable achievement but also sets an example for other students in Anambra to strive for greatness and make their state proud.
Governor Soludo’s support underscores his vision for a future where Anambra’s students lead the way in academic excellence. The N500,000 prize is more than just a monetary award, it’s a beacon of encouragement for the next generation of leaders.
