In a heartfelt appeal, Rinsola Abiola, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, has called on Nigerian youths to place their trust in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Abiola assured the youth that their concerns are being prioritized, emphasizing the government’s commitment to creating a brighter future for young Nigerians.

Speaking at a Ramadan lecture and Iftar event organized by the Rinsola Abiola Foundation for youths in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Abiola who is also one of the daughters of the late MKO Abiola highlighted President Tinubu’s ongoing support for young people. She noted that Tinubu’s dedication to youth empowerment is not merely rhetoric, but has been consistently demonstrated through both his campaign promises and actions since taking office.

Abiola specifically pointed to the newly-established National Youth Conference, of which she is a member, as a tangible example of the administration’s efforts to engage young people in governance. The conference is an inclusive initiative, with representatives from civil society groups and individuals from various political affiliations, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to youth participation in policy-making.

“Keep faith with this administration,” Abiola urged, “and trust that we are working hard to address the issues that matter most to young people.” She emphasized the creation of a level playing field for youths, referencing the establishment of a Student Loan Fund and the appointment of a youth minister who is deeply invested in addressing the needs of young Nigerians.

Abiola reassured the crowd that President Tinubu whom she described as “youth-friendly” understands the importance of empowering young people and remains committed to ensuring their voices are heard. She encouraged the youth to stay engaged, participate in ongoing initiatives, and trust that the government is diligently working to create opportunities that will benefit them in the long term.

Additionally, in his lecture titled “Islamic Perspectives on Youth Development and Leadership,” Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, the Imam of Gbaguraland, stressed the importance of equipping young Nigerians with the skills necessary to lead and contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation. Through such empowerment, he argued, youths will be better positioned to make a positive impact on Nigeria’s future.

The message was clear: with President Tinubu’s government fully committed to youth development, Nigerian youths are urged to remain hopeful, engaged, and confident in the leadership’s determination to support their growth and success.
