Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a powerful call for urgent national restructuring to preserve the country’s democratic values and ensure a brighter future for its citizens. Speaking at a coalition meeting in Yola on Tuesday, Atiku emphasized that the country is heading in the wrong direction and requires immediate action to address its pressing challenges.

Atiku, who addressed an audience of various political party members, urged the formation of a new movement to correct the course of the nation, warning that without change, Nigeria’s youth may end up “slaves in their father’s land.”

“We need a new movement to make things right. If we don’t act now, our children will become slaves in their father’s land,” Atiku said, passionately stressing the urgency of the situation.

Although he refrained from delving into specifics about his political plans, Atiku assured his supporters that he would soon address the nation on his stance and take a stand on the country’s growing issues. “It’s not yet time for me to speak on the politics of the country, but very soon, I will break my silence on my political position and other things that are going wrong in the country,” he confirmed.

Atiku also called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and unite for the country’s best interests, describing the proposed movement as a potential savior for the nation.

The gathering was organized by Senator Ishaku Abbo, who reaffirmed Atiku’s leadership role, saying, “The former vice president, you are our party, you are our logo; wherever you go, we will follow you.” Abbo also highlighted Atiku’s leadership qualities, pointing to his impactful eight-year tenure as Vice President, which earned him the admiration of democrats across the country.

The event was attended by representatives from all 21 local government areas in Adamawa State, including key aides of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 governorship candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani. One of Binani’s aides confirmed her involvement in the coalition, noting that while she was engaged in other commitments, she would attend the next meeting.

This latest development signals a growing political realignment, with various parties and leaders coming together to push for much-needed changes in the country’s political landscape. Stay tuned as Atiku’s movement gains momentum and the political scene intensifies.
