Security operatives in Ondo State have uncovered a secret crude oil reservoir hidden deep inside a forest, exposing yet another illegal operation in Nigeria’s oil sector.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and TANTITA Security Services, made the shocking discovery in Obe-Akingboye, Ilaje Local Government Area, during a joint operation on Sunday.

Oil Thieves Escape, But Crackdown Continues

By the time the security team arrived at around 2:12 PM, those behind the illegal operation had already fled, leaving behind the massive reservoir of stolen crude oil. No arrests have been made yet, but investigations are ongoing.

NSCDC Ondo Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye has issued a stern warning to those involved in illegal oil dealings, vowing that the full force of the law will be unleashed on offenders.

He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting critical national assets, particularly in the solid minerals and petroleum sectors.
