In a surprising development, Kano State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Maj. Gen. Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd), has stepped down from his position.
The retired military officer, who was appointed as the pioneer head of the newly created ministry, tendered his resignation without disclosing any specific reasons for his decision.
Governor Abba Yusuf has accepted the resignation, expressing gratitude for Idris’ contributions during his brief tenure. The governor praised the former commissioner for his dedication to the state and his efforts in setting up the ministry.
“We thank Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State, both in his military career and public service. We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement,” Governor Yusuf stated.
Despite his short stint, Idris is credited with laying the groundwork for the ministry, and the governor remains optimistic that his successor will build upon this foundation to strengthen internal security in Kano.
