The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of the South-South Development Commission Bill, calling it a historic milestone for the region’s progress.

In a statement on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, PANDEF’s National Chairman, Ambassador Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, praised both Tinubu and the National Assembly for their swift action in making the bill a reality.

“This move reassures our people that the Federal Government is committed to equitable development across Nigeria,” PANDEF stated, emphasizing the commission’s role in tackling the environmental, economic, and infrastructural challenges facing the South-South.

The group urged Tinubu to appoint capable leaders to the commission, ensuring it delivers on its mandate. Given the Niger Delta’s vast contributions to Nigeria’s economy, PANDEF also called for urgent environmental and infrastructural interventions to address long-standing issues in the region.

Beyond development, PANDEF also appealed for Tinubu’s intervention in the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, advocating for the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the State Assembly.

Reaffirming its commitment to regional progress, PANDEF pledged continued collaboration with the government to drive sustainable growth and stability in the South-South.
