The Corps Commander of Amotekun in Ogun State, Brigadier General A.I. Adedigba (retd.), has fiercely dismissed rumors alleging that the state’s security outfit is underfunded. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Adedigba labeled the claims as “false, misleading, and baseless,” asserting that Amotekun remains well-supported by the Ogun State government under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s leadership.

Since its establishment in 2020, the Amotekun Corps has received substantial backing, including logistical resources, operational support, and strong inter-agency cooperation to effectively address the state’s security challenges. Adedigba stressed that the Ogun administration has continuously prioritized the safety and welfare of residents.

Contrary to the misinformation circulating, the Amotekun boss clarified that the agency was allocated a budget of ₦731.7 million for 2024, not the ₦103 million previously reported. He also revealed that, for 2025, the budget had been significantly increased to ₦1.5 billion, following approval from the Ogun State House of Assembly.

In response to claims that only ₦10 million was spent on the security outfit, Adedigba pointed out that Amotekun’s monthly running costs far exceed this figure. He also highlighted recent investments made by the state government, including the purchase of 10 brand-new Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles and the completion of a state-of-the-art headquarters for Amotekun. The facility includes a renovated secretariat, a borehole for water supply, and modernized training programs to enhance the skills of its personnel.
