UEFA has launched an official probe into four Real Madrid players, including superstars Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, over alleged “indecent conduct” following their dramatic Champions League last-16 victory against Atletico Madrid.
Defender Antonio Rudiger and midfielder Dani Ceballos are also under investigation, potentially facing disciplinary action ahead of Real Madrid’s crucial quarter-final first leg against Arsenal on April 8.
The European football governing body confirmed the inquiry in a statement on Thursday, stating, “A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Real Madrid CF players.”
Spanish media reports suggest the probe revolves around how the Madrid players celebrated after their penalty shootout triumph at Atletico’s Metropolitano Stadium on March 12.
The match ended in controversy after Atletico’s Julian Alvarez had a crucial penalty disallowed for allegedly striking the ball twice, a decision that fueled heated debates and heightened tensions between both sides.
