Barcelona has been dealt a major blow as star playmaker Dani Olmo is set to miss three weeks of action due to a thigh injury, ruling him out of crucial upcoming matches, including the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Borussia Dortmund.

Olmo picked up the injury during Barça’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Osasuna on Thursday, where he was forced off shortly after scoring. Medical tests on Friday confirmed an adductor muscle issue in his right leg, with the club estimating a three-week recovery period.

This means the Spanish international will miss key fixtures, including a league showdown with Girona, the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid, and the much-anticipated Champions League clash on April 9.

Manager Hansi Flick admitted the injury was a heavy setback despite the team’s victory.

“We got the three points, but at a high price,” Flick said. “If he’s out for two weeks, he’ll miss important games; if it’s three, even more.”

With Barcelona pushing for titles on multiple fronts, Olmo’s absence is a significant blow. The team will now have to navigate this crucial stretch without one of its key creative forces.
