As the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations approach, the Bauchi State Police Command is stepping up its efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful holiday for residents. In a statement released on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil announced that the Command would be intensifying visibility patrols throughout the state.
Wakil, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, revealed that directives have been issued to all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to maintain increased patrols, particularly in areas deemed high-risk or prone to unrest.
“The Police are sending a clear message to anyone considering disrupting the celebrations: reconsider your actions. We encourage you to join in the festivities or seek help from the Police for rehabilitation. If you choose to cause trouble, be prepared to face the legal consequences,” Wakil warned.
In a bid to strengthen community cooperation, the Police are urging citizens to report any suspicious activity promptly to the nearest station, through the Police Rescue Me App, or by calling emergency numbers 08151849417 and 09053872273.
The Bauchi Police also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining safety during the festive period, emphasizing that the safety of lives and property is their top priority. The Command has implemented additional security measures, including the deployment of undercover officers for intelligence gathering, to proactively address any security concerns before or during the Eid celebrations.
The statement concluded by extending warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to the Muslim community, acknowledging the conclusion of the Ramadan fasting period and reinforcing the Police’s dedication to ensuring a secure environment for prayers and festivities across the state.
