Senator Lawal Usman, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has vehemently condemned the brutal killings of Northern travellers in Uromi, Edo State, urging swift justice for the victims. In a statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna, Usman expressed his deep sorrow over the senseless violence that claimed the lives of innocent Nigerians.

The lawmaker called on the Federal Government, Edo State authorities, and security agencies to launch a thorough, transparent, and prompt investigation into the crime, ensuring that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice. Describing the murders as “barbaric” and “senseless,” Usman highlighted that this attack was not only an assault on innocent citizens but also an attack on Nigeria’s unity and peace.

“The victims were hardworking Nigerians, simply pursuing their livelihoods, and they were brutally taken from us at the prime of their lives,” Usman said, condemning the heinous act. He emphasized that no Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or region, should ever face such mindless violence.

In his call for justice, Usman urged the government and security forces to apprehend and punish those responsible, stressing that Nigeria’s future depends on resolving such issues with fairness and transparency. He also appealed to leaders and citizens to prioritize peace-building efforts to prevent the escalation of ethnic tensions.

While urging calm among Northern leaders and Nigerians at large, Usman warned against attempts to exploit the tragedy for political gain or to incite further violence. “We must resist any effort to divide us or encourage reprisals,” he cautioned.

Highlighting Nigeria’s strength in diversity, Usman appealed to all Nigerians to reaffirm their commitment to tolerance, mutual respect, and the sanctity of human life. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims, calling their loss “a collective tragedy” and prayed for God’s strength to help them through this painful time.

“The pain of your loss is felt by all of us. We stand in solidarity with you, and we must unite as one nation to ensure justice, peace, and security for all,” the statement concluded.
