Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has firmly distanced himself from an alleged APC gathering, warning against attempts to drag his name into political schemes that do not align with his values.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Obi dismissed reports linking him to the meeting, emphasizing his commitment to issue-based politics rather than blackmail and manipulation.
“I have seen reports circulating on social media about an APC gathering where my name was mentioned. Let me be clear: I do not engage in toxic politics, blackmail, or political manipulation. My name should not be used for such narratives,” he stated.
“I Am Not APC—And I’m Not Joining”
Reaffirming his political stance, Obi categorically stated that he has no ties to the APC and no plans to join. He emphasized that political decisions should be driven by competence, capacity, and compassion, not party affiliations or smear campaigns.
Speaking on the upcoming Anambra governorship election, he stressed the need for issue-based politics rather than personal attacks.
“Elections and primaries should not be reduced to toxic narratives. Aspirants should be judged on their credibility, vision, and ability to deliver, not on political blackmail or controversy,” Obi asserted.
With the November polls approaching, he called for credible, transparent, and democratic primaries across all political parties, including his own. He urged Nigerians to embrace justice and reject divisive politics, emphasizing that true democracy remains the key to a better Nigeria.
