Dr. Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, the former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, has officially parted ways with the party, marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.

In a resignation letter dated March 28, 2025, addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Ambrose-Amawhe announced her immediate exit, stating that her decision was carefully considered.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunities PDP afforded her, she acknowledged her time as the party’s 2023 deputy governorship candidate and previous engagements but emphasized that the party’s current direction no longer aligns with her aspirations.

“This decision was not made lightly,” she stated, “but after much reflection, I believe it is time to move forward. My commitment to serving Cross River State and Nigeria remains unwavering, and I look forward to contributing in other capacities.”

Ambrose-Amawhe, who had also contested for a seat in the House of Representatives under the PDP, was the running mate to Senator Sandy Onor in the last gubernatorial election.

While she has yet to disclose her next political move, her departure raises speculation about potential alignments ahead of future elections.
