The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has announced its strong intention to unseat Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections. This bold declaration came on Monday during a press briefing in Calabar, where key APC leaders and stakeholders vowed to reclaim the senatorial seat for their party.
Cross River APC Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, emphasized the party’s commitment to revitalizing its grassroots structures and mobilizing support to secure a victory in the upcoming election cycle. Eba did not hold back in criticizing Senator Jarigbe’s performance, describing his tenure as underwhelming, and assured party members that a strong APC candidate would be fielded to challenge the incumbent.
“We want to send a clear message to Senator Jarigbe: It’s time for governance,” Eba declared. He further stated, “We are determined to ensure that the seats currently held by National Assembly members from the Northern Senatorial District, who belong to the opposition, will be taken away. By the time the next election comes, those seats will be history, and an APC senator will take over.”
Eba called for unity within the party, urging members to set aside any internal disagreements and work toward their common goal. He also stressed that the APC would not repeat past mistakes, particularly when it comes to selecting candidates for the 2027 gubernatorial election, ensuring a more coordinated and strategic approach.
“All party members and support groups are now tasked with reaching out to every corner of the state, engaging even those in the opposition, to join hands with us in the mission ahead,” Eba added.
With the 2027 elections fast approaching, the APC’s bold stance in Cross River is shaping up to be one of the most heated contests, with the party focused on securing both the senatorial seat and a significant political presence in the Northern Senatorial District.
