The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting a mix of sunshine and cloudiness across the country from Tuesday to Thursday, with scattered thunderstorms expected in several regions.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook, Tuesday will bring mostly sunny skies with a few cloud patches over the northern region. However, isolated thunderstorms are expected later in the day over parts of Adamawa, Kaduna, and Taraba States. The North Central region will experience similar conditions, with sunny skies and light cloud cover, but there are chances of isolated thunderstorms in the morning over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi States. In the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms are expected over the FCT, Benue, Niger, Plateau, and Kwara States.

The southern parts of the country will also see thunderstorms, with morning rain likely over Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms could affect parts of Imo, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States.

On Wednesday, NiMet forecasts sunny skies with a few clouds over the northern region in the morning. However, isolated thunderstorms with or without rain are expected later in the day across parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Kaduna States. The North Central region will remain mostly sunny with some cloud cover, but in the afternoon/evening, isolated thunderstorms are likely over parts of the FCT, Benue, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Plateau States.

For the South, NiMet predicts cloudy skies with occasional sunshine and chances of morning thunderstorms in Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa States. In the afternoon and evening, scattered thunderstorms are expected in parts of Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Anambra, Enugu, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta States.

Looking ahead to Thursday, NiMet predicts sunny skies with some cloud patches in the northern region in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Taraba in the afternoon and evening. In the North Central region, the weather will remain mostly sunny with cloud patches in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms are anticipated later in the day in parts of Benue, Kwara, and Kogi States.

In the South, cloudy skies with periods of sunshine are expected, with isolated thunderstorms likely in parts of Cross River, Rivers, Lagos, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States during the morning. In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms could affect areas such as Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers States.

NiMet is urging the public to take precautions due to high temperatures across most parts of the country. People are advised to stay hydrated, stay in well-ventilated areas, and protect themselves from excessive sun exposure, especially between noon and 3 pm. The agency also reminded residents to practice good hygiene, avoid overcrowding, and take necessary steps to avoid heat stress.
