Another wave of deadly violence has rocked communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, with at least 10 people reportedly killed in fresh attacks by armed assailants.
According to Farmasum Fuddang, Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), the attacks occurred on Wednesday night, sweeping through multiple villages, including Mongor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai.
The attackers first struck Mongor but were repelled by security forces before shifting their assault to Daffo. Security personnel managed to drive them back again, but the assailants then launched fresh attacks on Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai.
This latest bloodshed comes barely a week after a similar tragedy in Ruwi, where 10 people were gunned down during a wake-keep ceremony.
“In just one week, we have lost over 20 members of our community to these marauding terrorists,” Fuddang lamented.
He expressed gratitude to security agencies for their swift intervention, which he said helped reduce the scale of the casualties. However, he called on emergency response agencies, including NEMA, SEMA, and the Nigerian Red Cross, to urgently provide aid for the displaced and injured victims.
Despite the alarming rise in attacks, authorities, including the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Safe Haven, are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
