On Saturday, a political storm swept across the United States. In every state—from big cities to small towns—millions joined more than 1,400 protests under the banner of Hands Off!. Their target? Billionaires Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
This wasn’t just another protest. It was a nationwide uprising—a clear message from the people: stop the takeover of our democracy.
Organized by a coalition of pro-democracy groups, civil rights activists, veterans, unions, and LGBTQ+ advocates, the movement has grown fast. Already, nearly 600,000 people have signed up to take part.
Why Are People Protesting?

Elon Musk, now leading the ironically named Department of Government Efficiency, has bragged about destroying public programs. He even said he put USAID “in the wood chipper.” Protesters around the world—London, Toronto, Berlin—have joined the movement, standing against Musk’s global influence.
A Country in Crisis
The Social Security Administration is in chaos. Thousands of workers have been laid off. Nearly 73 million Americans who depend on monthly benefits are left uncertain.
Immigration policies have become harsher, with increased arrests and plans for mass deportations. ICE has even wrongfully deported people in recent weeks.
Organizers say these actions are not about saving money—they’re about consolidating power. Communities feel under attack: veterans, seniors, immigrants, children, and working families are all being pushed aside.
