The Lagos State Government is taking firm action against developers violating waterfront setback regulations, issuing multiple stop-work orders and contravention notices. This move comes after a weekend inspection tour led by Ekundayo Alebiosu, Commissioner for the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development (MWID).

During the inspection, the MWID team visited several estates, including Megamound Estate near Lekki County, Victoria Crest III and IV, Oral Estate, and Pine Estate along Orchid Road in Ajah. Several properties were flagged for encroaching into designated waterfront setback zones, prompting the government’s swift intervention.

Alebiosu emphasized the importance of adhering to the state’s waterfront regulatory laws and obtaining proper approvals from the ministry before starting any development projects near Lagos’ waterfronts.

He also warned developers that repeated violations would lead to more severe enforcement actions, urging all involved to cease their unlawful activities or face the full consequences of the law.
