Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged victorious as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, securing a commanding win in the party’s primary. The results, announced by Senator Bassey Otu, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and Governor of Cross River State, confirmed Ukachukwu’s dominant performance in the race.

With an impressive 1,455 votes, Ukachukwu easily defeated his closest contender, Valentine Ozigbo, who garnered just 67 votes. Other candidates, Johnbosco Onunkwo and Edozie Madu, secured 26 and 8 votes respectively. The primary, which began on Saturday, also recorded 26 invalid votes.

In his victory speech, Ukachukwu expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a smooth and transparent election process. He also acknowledged the contributions of the APC National Working Committee, Senator Otu, his fellow aspirants, and the delegates for their roles in making the primary a success.

“I call on my fellow contestants to come together and support my candidacy,” Ukachukwu said. “Our focus now should be on bringing Anambra under APC leadership.”

Drawing on his extensive experience and influence in Anambra politics, Ukachukwu, who has played a key role in the emergence of past governors, emphasized his readiness to lead. “I’ve been a political godfather, but now I’m ready to father myself,” he remarked, promising not to disappoint the people of Anambra and the APC.

As the APC candidate, Ukachukwu will face off against incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and George Moughalu of the Labour Party in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested election.
