In a bid to curb malpractices during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a decoy website aimed at trapping and exposing cheating candidates.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this strategy while overseeing the UTME Mock examination at Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Abuja. Over 211,000 candidates participated in the mock exam across designated CBT centres nationwide.

Speaking on the purpose of the mock exercise, Oloyede explained that it is not only to test the board’s preparedness for the main exam but also to try out new strategies for improvement. “We are constantly learning and improving,” he said, emphasizing the importance of using the mock results to fine-tune the process ahead of the actual UTME.

The mock results will be made available by Friday, with Oloyede assuring that the board is working diligently to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Regarding cheating, Oloyede expressed concern over candidates resorting to fraudulent websites promising to provide exam answers for a fee. To combat this, JAMB has set up its own “rogue website,” which has already caught 180 individuals who paid for unauthorized help. These candidates, Oloyede confirmed, will face serious consequences, including the cancellation of their UTME results and Direct Entry (DE) registration.

“We want students to understand that the best way to pass is by studying hard. Cheating won’t work, and those who try will be caught,” Oloyede said, urging candidates to avoid such scams.
