Gujarat Titans’ Late Collapse Gives Lucknow Super Giants a Thrilling Win
Location: Ahmedabad, India
In a dramatic encounter at Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans seemed to be in control at 120 for 0 in 12 overs. However, a brilliant fightback from Ravi Bishnoi, Digvesh Rathi, and Shardul Thakur helped restrict the Titans to just 180 runs. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) then completed a superb chase, with Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 64 and Ayush Badoni’s composed finish ensuring a win by 6 wickets.
Bishnoi’s breakthrough came in the 14th over when he dismissed Sai Sudharsan off a loopy googly, changing the course of the match. The spinners then squeezed the Titans, as only 80 runs came off the final 8 overs. Shardul Thakur further cemented Gujarat’s downfall by taking two wickets in the final over.
While Gujarat Titans’ batting faltered, their fielding also let them down, with Jos Buttler dropping three catches and missing a key run-out. Despite the setbacks, Pooran’s scintillating knock on a sluggish pitch calmed LSG’s nerves and put them on course for victory.
Pooran, known for his swashbuckling style, struck the ball with pure force and elegance. His spectacular shots saw LSG leap from 90 for 1 to 114 in just one over, setting them up for a relatively simple chase. Gujarat Titans’ pacers, Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, tried to slow the game down, but Pooran’s cool head and powerful strokeplay kept LSG ahead.
As Pooran fell, LSG still needed 23 from 22 balls, with two new batsmen at the crease. A crucial missed run-out by Buttler off David Miller allowed LSG to finish the game smoothly. Badoni sealed the victory in style, hitting a four and a six in the final over.
Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan impressed with his elegant 56, showcasing composure and classical T20 batting techniques. His opening partnership with Shubman Gill, who scored 60, had put Gujarat Titans in a strong position before the collapse.
In the end, LSG finished on 186 for 4 in 19.3 overs, claiming a memorable win over Gujarat Titans, who were left to rue their missed opportunities in the field.
