In a significant breakthrough, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have arrested two members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation, conducted on April 11, 2025, targeted an ISWAP cell located around Yelwa axis, and the troops successfully apprehended the suspects.
The arrested individuals, Abdulkadir Dalhatu and Ubaidu Hassan, both 25 years old, were posing as tailors to facilitate the establishment of ISWAP bases in Plateau and Bauchi states. This clever disguise allowed them to blend in with the local community, but ultimately, they were caught by the vigilant troops.
The suspects are currently in custody, undergoing further investigation and interrogation. The OPSH troops are working tirelessly to uncover more information about the terrorist group’s plans and operations in the region.
This successful operation is a testament to the bravery and dedication of the troops serving under Operation SAFE HAVEN. Their efforts to protect the people of Plateau State and maintain peace in the region are truly commendable.
In related operations, the troops have also recovered an AK-47 rifle and magazine from a hideout in Mazat village, Barkin Ladi LGA, after a suspect fled the scene. Additionally, a bandit was neutralized, and a fabricated pistol was recovered in an ambush operation along Road Pinau in Wase LGA.
The people of Plateau State can rest assured that the security agencies are working hard to keep them safe. The OPSH troops’ continued efforts to combat terrorism and banditry in the region are a welcome development, and their successes are a significant step towards achieving peace and stability in the state.
