Deion Sanders Reacts After Son Shedeur Goes Undrafted in Round 1 of NFL Draft

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has broken his silence after his son, Shedeur Sanders, was not selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft—a move that left many analysts and fans stunned.
Despite a standout college career and a strong pre-draft résumé that earned him a second-team All-American nod and a first-round grade by several scouts, Shedeur slipped out of Thursday’s opening round. Several quarterback-needy teams opted for other players, leaving Sanders still waiting for his NFL destination.
Coach Prime took to social media with a message rooted in faith and perseverance.
“My bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise & he chose the weak things of the world that he may put to shame the strong! Please know God ain’t done & God is just really getting started. Enjoy this lesson & stop stressing,” Deion Sanders wrote.
Shedeur watched the draft from his hometown of Canton, Texas, surrounded by close friends and family at a private draft party. After the round concluded without his name being called, he addressed the crowd with calm assurance and optimism.
“We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything’s possible, everything’s possible,” Shedeur said. “I don’t feel like this happened for no reason. All of this is, of course, fuel to the fire. Under no circumstances did we all know this was going to happen, but we understand we’re on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s the day. We’re going to be happy regardless. Legendary.”
With Day 2 of the draft approaching, Sanders remains one of the top available quarterbacks, and the anticipation around his eventual landing spot continues to grow. His poise in the face of disappointment only reinforces his confidence and leadership—traits that may soon prove invaluable to the NFL franchise that takes a chance on him.
