Ladoja, a former senator and governor of Oyo State, is well known for his ability to overcome challenges, including an impeachment during his 2003–2007 tenure. His coronation was marked with ancestral blessings, traditional rites, and cultural performances that highlighted the richness of Yoruba heritage.

In his speech, the new Olubadan renewed calls for the creation of Ibadan State from 13 Oyo local governments before 2027. He stressed that this move would drive economic development, improve governance, and give Ibadan people fairer representation. His appeal was met with applause from indigenes who have long supported the demand.
