President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the newly appointed service chiefs to intensify the fight against insecurity and deliver tangible results across the country.
Speaking during their decoration ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, the President made it clear that Nigerians are looking for progress, not excuses.
“As the leaders of our nation’s armed forces, I charge you to perform your duties with unwavering patriotism and commitment. Nigerians expect results, not excuses,” Tinubu said.
The President commended the Armed Forces for their continued sacrifices and successes in reclaiming territories once overrun by insurgents, rescuing kidnap victims, and reducing the strength of terror groups operating within the country.
While acknowledging these gains, Tinubu stressed that the evolving nature of security challenges demands renewed energy and strategic action from the military.
“Of serious concern to this administration is the emergence of new armed groups in parts of the North-Central, North-West, and South. We must act swiftly and decisively — let us crush these threats before they grow,” he stated.
Tinubu warned that the nation could not afford a repeat of the prolonged insurgency that began in 2009, urging the service chiefs to deploy intelligence, technology, and collaboration in dismantling the new criminal networks.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the military through improved welfare, modern equipment, and strategic reforms aimed at achieving lasting peace and national stability.
