NERC Slaps 8 DisCos with N628m Fine Over Estimated Billing Violations

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has hit eight electricity distribution companies (DisCos) with a hefty fine totaling N628 million for breaching regulations on estimated billing for unmetered customers between July and September 2024.

The DisCos caught up in the penalty include Abuja, Eko, Enugu, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola.

In a statement released Thursday, NERC ordered the DisCos to issue credit adjustments to the affected customers by May 15, 2025, as part of their efforts to resolve the ongoing billing issues.
