Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has disowned the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting he had no hand in the move.

Wike, alongside former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and eight others, was expelled during the party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, over allegations of anti-party activities and actions deemed detrimental to the party’s unity.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by PDP chieftain Bode George, who accused the affected members of repeatedly working against the party’s interest through divisive conduct and persistent litigation.

Reacting in a statement, Fintiri firmly rejected any suggestion that he supported Wike’s removal.
“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, categorically dissociate myself from the decision to expel the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the PDP,” he said.

He stressed that the expulsion was not in the party’s best interest and warned that such actions could deepen existing rifts within the PDP. Fintiri reaffirmed his commitment to peace-building, reconciliation, and the overall stability of the party.

He called on party leaders and members to focus on healing internal divisions rather than widening them.

“My position is guided by the desire for peace and unity. I remain committed to supporting any effort that promotes cohesion and progress within the PDP,” the governor added.
