Tension has gripped communities in the Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State after armed bandits stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, killing the school’s Vice Principal and abducting several students.

The attackers reportedly struck late at night, shooting dead the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, who was said to have tried to protect the students during the invasion.

The exact number of abducted students remains unknown, as officials have yet to release a formal update.

A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, confirmed the incident, saying the gunmen operated freely and left the school community devastated. She described the attack as a “heart-wrenching tragedy” that has plunged the entire area into fear and sorrow.

Locals have continued to mourn Makuku, praising him as a committed educator who sacrificed his life for his students.

Security agencies are still silent on the raid, while residents are calling on the state and federal governments to act swiftly to rescue the abducted students and strengthen protection for schools and vulnerable communities.
