Real questions D’banj in a viral clip that has dominated social media conversations, after the rising Nigerian artist criticized the music icon’s recent claims about his C.R.E.A.M platform and its alleged $3 billion valuation.

The rant, delivered shirtless and with Real’s trademark street sarcasm, takes aim at D’banj’s ongoing media tour, where the veteran singer has repeatedly positioned C.R.E.A.M (Creative Royalty Entertainment Africa Music) as a billion-dollar tech powerhouse.

In several interviews, D’banj confidently described the platform he launched in 2016 as a major contributor to his wealth, even suggesting that it places him among the richest artists on the continent. According to him, “There is no artist on the Forbes list who has made it solely through music. My C.R.E.A.M platform is worth $3 billion, and that’s the real game.”

But Real, who rose to fame with the 2017 hit “Legbegbe,” is not convinced. In the trending clip, he scoffs at the assessment and shakes his head in disbelief. “I heard someone say their company is worth three billion dollars,” he says. “They exaggerate all this stuff as if it were actually 3 billion dollars, but when the time comes to pay the ambassadors, it is 20 million naira. How?”

He also questions the platform’s timeline and results, noting that despite years of advertising (from 2018 to 2025), the results remain unclear. Entering humor, he makes fun of the name of the platform: “It depends on the cream. I prefer ice cream… or body cream.”

His sharpest criticism gets to the heart of the matter: “What is everyone getting out of this company? What exactly is the company doing to make it worth three billion? They’re just cutting corners.” His exaggerated “Oh God, 3 billion!” It has since become a meme.

The clip has reignited long-standing industry debates about inflated valuations, platforms supporting underperforming artists and the growing tech business aspirations of Afrobeats stars. While C.R.E.A.M was launched as a talent discovery initiative, it has faced lingering questions about transparency and delivery.
