In the ongoing trial of former P-Square manager Jude Chigozie Okoye, a prosecution witness testified before the Lagos State High Court that the defendant’s wife owns 800,000 shares of Northside Music Limited, the company at the center of alleged theft charges.

The testimony was given by Peter Obumuneme Okoye, one half of the musical duo P-Square and the prosecution’s first witness, during proceedings before Judge Rahman Oshodi in Ikeja.

Okoye and his company are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on four charges related to the alleged misappropriation of funds totaling more than one million dollars. Okoye has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

During cross-examination by defense attorney Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), bank statements from Northside Music Limited were presented to the court. The witness testified that the accounts reflected joint business interests between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and confirmed that he reported the suspected misappropriation of funds to the anti-corruption agency.

The witness also testified that he discovered another entity, Northside Entertainment Company, which was allegedly involved in diverting funds from their shared business operations.

When questioned about ownership, the witness testified that the defendant’s wife owns 800,000 shares of the company now under scrutiny, a fact that has become a major point of contention in the trial.

The defense attempted to introduce documents that were allegedly attached to the original petition filed with the EFCC. Still, prosecutor M.K. Bashir objected, arguing that the documents were public records that were not properly attached to the petition and were therefore inadmissible. Judge Oshodi upheld the objection and rejected the documents as evidence.

The court adjourned the case and scheduled new trial dates for February 20 and 27, 2026, while both sides prepare to continue reviewing evidence and testimony.
