A private plane operated by Flybird Aviation crashed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano State on Sunday morning, triggering panic among airport users.
The plane, which had departed from Abuja, experienced difficulties landing around 9:30 a.m. and subsequently crashed on the runway.
The aircraft was carrying 11 people: eight passengers and three crew members. Emergency services quickly secured the area and evacuated all passengers and crew.
Airport authorities confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities. All occupants were safely evacuated from the aircraft shortly after the incident.
Eyewitnesses described tense moments as passengers disembarked the plane following the unexpected landing. The affected section of the runway was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of operations.
The relevant aviation authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities stated that the findings will inform additional security measures at the airport.
The incident has renewed public attention to air safety, although the successful evacuation of all occupants has been widely praised.
