President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and promoting peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as he sent his Christmas greetings to Christians across the country and in the diaspora.
In his Christmas 2025 message, released on Wednesday, the president assured the nation that safeguarding national unity, security, and stability remains a top priority for his government.
Tinubu affirmed that all Nigerians, regardless of their faith or ethnic background, deserve to live in safety, practice their religion freely, and pursue their aspirations without fear or discrimination.
He emphasized that his administration is guided by the Constitution in protecting the rights of all citizens, noting that religious freedom is a fundamental pillar of a peaceful and progressive society.
“On this special day, I send my warmest Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and around the world. I thank God for the privilege of serving our great nation and pray for peace, unity, and mutual understanding among people of all faiths,” the president declared.
He reaffirmed that his government will continue to take deliberate steps to protect Nigerians from religious violence and intolerance, adding that no person or group should be persecuted for their beliefs.
According to Tinubu, devotion to God, compassion, and love for humanity are values shared by all religions and should serve as the foundation for national unity, not division.
The president noted that since taking office in 2023, his administration has consistently engaged with religious leaders as part of broader initiatives aimed at addressing insecurity and promoting peaceful coexistence across the country.
He affirmed that these collaborations will be maintained and expanded to ensure cooperation between the government and religious institutions in conflict prevention and the promotion of harmony.
Tinubu also acknowledged the role Christians continue to play in Nigeria’s development, describing their contributions in education, healthcare, governance, and community service as vital to national progress.
Reflecting on the significance of Christmas, the President urged Nigerians to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a symbol of peace, sacrifice, and love for humanity.
He further advised citizens traveling during the holiday season to be patient, law-abiding, and safety-conscious, wishing them safe travels and happy celebrations.
The President concluded by praying for lasting peace, stability, and unity in Nigeria, especially among communities of different faiths.
