A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated Zonal Congress Committees across three geopolitical zones, while firmly rejecting claims of any political alignment with prominent national figures ahead of future elections.

The party made this known in a communiqué issued at the end of the zonal inaugurations and signed by its National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe. The leadership insisted that the ADC remains committed to internal democracy and is not merging or aligning with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, or former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the communiqué, the South-West Zonal Congress Committee was inaugurated in Ekiti State on January 7, 2026. The committee is chaired by Hon. Bala Sani, with Hon. Kyauta Yakubu heading the Zonal Appeal Committee.

In the South-East, the inauguration took place in Enugu State on the same day. Barrister Adamu Ado Dauda was appointed Chairman of the Congress Committee, while Mrs. Iyabo Salami Alibi heads the Appeal Committee. The event was presided over by the Secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Rufus Ekenmi.

Similarly, the North-Central Zonal Congress Committee was inaugurated on January 5, 2026, with Hon. Lolo Ehirudu as Chairman and Hon. Sa’ad Aboki leading the Appeal Committee.

The ADC used the opportunity to dismiss rumors of external influence. “The party strongly appeals to its members and the general public to completely disregard and ignore the unfounded rumours circulating about political alignments involving individuals such as Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Goodluck Jonathan,” the statement read.
