The governor announced the decision on Monday during a political gathering at the Government House in Kano, where senior party leaders, lawmakers, and supporters were in attendance.

Yusuf said the defection followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders across the state, including elected representatives at both state and federal levels.

According to him, 22 of the 24 members of the Kano State House of Assembly and nine of the 14 members of the House of Representatives from the state agreed to align with him in joining the APC.
