The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, has approved the dismissal of four senior officers over alleged gross misconduct.

The affected officials include the Registrar, Alhaji Umar Bello; the College Librarian, Yusuf Aliyu; the Director of Works and Services, Muhammad Malam; and Ibrahim Shehu, a member of the Governing Council representing the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation.

The decision was taken at the council’s seventh meeting held on January 31, 2026, at the headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Dahiru Gurama, said the dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the outcome of investigations carried out by constituted panels.

According to the statement, the officers were indicted by a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education, as well as an investigative committee of the Governing Council, which found them culpable on several counts of misconduct.

The council said the action reflects its resolve to enforce accountability, discipline and due process in the administration of the institution.

To ensure stability in the college’s administration, the council also approved the appointment of Mallam Haruna N. Ayuba, the most senior Deputy Registrar, as Acting Registrar.

Reacting to the development, the Provost of the college, Professor Ali Adamu, reaffirmed the management’s commitment to transparency and institutional integrity in line with federal regulations guiding tertiary institutions.
