Police officers in Benue State successfully repelled an armed attack by suspected bandits in the community of Ugba, killing one of the attackers and arresting another during the confrontation.
The incident reportedly occurred when the armed suspects attempted to launch an assault in the area but were quickly repelled by security personnel, triggering a shootout that forced the attackers to retreat.
During the exchange, one bandit was killed at the scene, while another suspect was apprehended by police. Security forces have also intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further attacks and locate the fleeing members of the criminal gang.
Authorities described the operation as a significant security response aimed at protecting residents and maintaining stability in the community, noting that the officers’ swift action helped prevent what could have escalated into a larger, more violent incident.
