BENUE LOYALTY SAGA: Hon. Asortar James Rejects ₦5m Bribe, Stands Firm with Governor Alia

Hon. Asortar James, a special assistant to the Benue State Governor on Social Media, has reported receiving a threat and bribe attempt from Hon. Akutah, alleging a ₦5 million payment and agreement to betray Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Hon. James affirmed his loyalty to Governor Alia, citing past rejections of similar offers, including a multimillion-naira offer from the SGF on Christmas Day in 2024.

Hon. James stated, “Let it be on record that I cannot and will not betray my brother and leader, His Excellency, Governor Fr. Hyacinth Alia. My loyalty is unwavering, and I stand firmly by my commitment to integrity and the values we uphold”.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has been facing challenges in his administration, including a power tussle with the judiciary and legislature. The Benue State House of Assembly had previously declined to honour a correspondence from Governor Alia seeking the screening and confirmation of nominees for commissioner positions.
