Ujor Mathias Ejeh has officially declared his intention to contest for the seat of Member of the Benue State House of Assembly, representing Otukpo/Akpa Constituency, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
In a formal declaration released on Monday, Ejeh stated that his decision to seek elective office is driven by a deep commitment to public service, community development, and democratic values.
He described his leadership journey as one rooted in student activism and youth development, noting that his tenure as Student Union President provided him the opportunity to champion student welfare, transparency, and inclusive decision-making. According to him, these early leadership experiences shaped his understanding of governance, accountability, and grassroots engagement.
Ejeh further highlighted his service as Youth Financial Secretary, where he was responsible for managing community funds, strengthening accountability frameworks, and supporting youth empowerment initiatives. He explained that the role exposed him to the importance of prudent financial management, transparency, and collaborative development planning.
The aspiring lawmaker said his vision for Otukpo/Akpa Constituency is anchored on social justice, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. He pledged to prioritize policies and legislative actions that will improve the living conditions of his constituents, strengthen youth participation, and promote equitable access to opportunities.
“I am motivated by a sincere desire to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of my constituency. I believe that leadership is service, and I am ready to serve with dedication, integrity, and fairness,” he said.
Ejeh also assured that his campaign and eventual service would strictly comply with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, and other relevant laws, promising to uphold democratic principles and ethical standards at all times.
His declaration has begun to generate interest among party members and political stakeholders within the constituency, as consultations and grassroots mobilization are expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
